Flanders, Propelling to the Forefront of the Bio-Based Transformation

The Singapore Week of Innovation and Technology (SWITCH) brings together leaders, entrepreneurs, creators, accelerators and investors from the Global-Asia innovation ecosystem.

Through the open exchange of new ideas, vibrant networks and a line-up of innovation-centric activities, SWITCH provides a global platform to catalyse meaningful collaboration between different fields and markets. The focus industries include healthcare & biomedical sciences, smart cities & urban solutions, trade & connectivity, and emerging sustainable technologies.

In 2022, SWITCH saw over 9,000 in-person attendees including C-Suites, founders, and directors from global markets like the United States, Japan and Germany. SWITCH is organized by Enterprise Singapore and MP, and is supported by the National Research Foundation Singapore (NRF) of the Prime Minister’s Office.

In its eighth edition in 2023, SWITCH returns with various innovation programmes including the SLINGSHOT startup pitching sector finals and grand finals, a sectoral thought leadership stage, market access sessions as well as industry exhibition showcases and roundtable sessions.

Flanders, Belgium has been a pioneer among regions in developing a bio-based economy to address major environmental and social challenges, and was one of the first European regions to adopt an action plan to transform itself into a knowledge-based bio-based industrial center. It has a strong tradition in bio-based activities, which is supported by top universities and research institutes, and is home to three large industrial sectors that provide the essential foundation for future bio-based developments: a large integrated chemistry cluster, a world-class innovative biotech sector, and a strong agri-food sector. Learn firsthand about the exceptional and innovative ecosystem underlying the thriving bio-based industry in Flanders and hear from various stakeholders on what the region has to offer: generous support for innovation and collaboration; state-of-the-art pilot infrastructure; specialised knowledge and talent; and, excellent connectivity. Also, explore the vibrant bio-based regional hub in Ghent through an informative presentation and join in on a discussion with our panel of experts on the role of a bio-based economy in driving innovation opportunities for green growth and advancing circularity.
